What to Expect Cruising the Tennessee River

The Tennessee river is one of the longest and most scenic fresh water boating adventures in North America. Some adventurers set out wanting to be surprised. This program is for those who prefer knowing what to expect on the river.

Over 1,000 photos and maps will show what awaits you. Most photos were taken by Bob and Mavis Duthie during September and October 2006 as they cruised the river in the Katy Leigh, a 36-foot 1981 Grand Banks classic trawler. The CD-ROM also includes a complete electronic copy of Fred Myers’ Tennessee River CruiseGuide, 5th edition.

An invitation from Fred Myers
I am pleased to join Bob and Mavis as they highlight the Tennessee River. As author and publisher of the Tennessee River CruiseGuide for 17 years, I cruised the Tennessee many times and for hundreds of hours. And I continue to do so because I have never grown tired of what the river offers. The Tennessee, one of the easiest rivers in the world for pleasure boaters to navigate, slices through and reveals many aspects of our nation, from pastoral scenes to big city excitement. It also serves well those who are interested in such things as history, geology, and even the engineering required to maintain the river’s role in terms of navigation, flood control, recreation, and the generating of hydro-electric power. No wonder so many veteran cruisers from all over the country rate it as one of America’s finest cruising destinations and consider those who live along it as some of the friendliest people they have ever met.

I sincerely invite you to discover the Tennessee and to use the information provided on this CD-ROM to make your experience even more rewarding.
